Zergeboglár Ensemble
Zergeboglár (Globe-flower) ensemble was founded in 2002 in Plaiesii de Jos/Kászonaltíz, Hargita County, Romania. At the very beginning, the group was made up of children from the age of kindergarten up to 4th grade, a ‘younger’ form of Bóbiska dance group, in order to pass on the Szekler traditions to the next generation.
The Globe-flower is a handsome, local, mountain plant, a protected species, which gave the idea to protect and revive our folk traditions. The group’s aim is to promote and keep the Hungarian folk music, dances and traditions of the Carpathian Basin, and to disseminate them among other nationalities.
We consider that the process of acquiring our traditional customs should not have an end in itself, but it is very important to show it to the world through national and international performances and festivals. This way we can contribute to the process of acquainting people with our minority culture, folk-dance and music. We also believe that the maintenance of peace between different ethnic groups deeply depends on knowing and respecting each other’s culture, traditions and ways of living.
At an early stage, dance-games were performed in colorful traditional costumes. Our current repertoire presents the folk dance of different regions of the Carpathian Basin. The ensemble presented the Szekler community form Szeklerland in various local, national and international festivals, performances and community events, in Romania, Hungary, Belgium and Luxemburg.
